Following the tracks of the Bourbaki

"On a dreary September day we set out on the final Swiss stage of the Absinthe Trail between the Val-de-Travers and Pontarlier. The sky is leaden as if to add a dramatic touch. Step by step, we follow the historic path of General Bourbaki and his troops at the end of the Franco-German war. Deeply moved, we learn how these French troops finally entered Switzerland after so much chaos and hardship. At every stage, an information board tells us more about the trail and its history. After a two-hour hike we return with a smile, marveling at our valiant compatriots who welcomed these brave soldiers with open arms."
