"This is the sort of route that I like: it starts with a little climb on leaving Lausanne to get you going, gently undulating countryside in the Gros-de-Vaud to get your legs moving, lakeside country between Yverdon-les-Bains and Neuchâtel to delight the eyes, then a more serious and sweaty stretch to the summit of the Vue-des-Alps section (1'283m), and finally a refreshing downhill run to the watchmaking capital of La Chaux-de-Fonds which has just been designated as a UNESCO heritage site."
