Louis Chevrolet Sculpture, La Chaux-de-Fonds
"As I walked in the "Parc de l'Ouest" a multitude of images made me dream. What an aventure! In 1900 this man went across the Atlantic and set up in New York believing in the American dream. "Never give up!" that's what he said! What a success! Car manufacturer and racing driver he conquered America and imposed his name beyond the borders! The Chevrolet brand always exists but only a few people know that Mr. Louis Joseph Chevrolet comed from La Chaux-de-Fonds! As I arrive in the middle of the park I cannot miss the big bust sitting prominently there."
Statue representing Louis Joseph Chevrolet's bust. It was created on occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Chevrolet brand. The car manufacturer offered this monument imagined by the artist Christian Gonzenbach to the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds in October 2013. The statue made of stainless and smooth steel is located in the Parc de l'Ouest, in the centre of the town. It represents a negative of Louis Chevrolet's portrait, is 5 metres high and weights 8 tons.
