Pendulum clock workshop "Au Carillon d'Or", Auvernier

"At the centre of the village of Auvernier and its cobblestone street, surrounded by vineyards, a 300-year-old wine cellar is the place where ancient and modern pendulum clocks are restored and where Neuchâtel pendulum clocks are created. Mr. Amstutz talked with great passion about the history of pendulum clocks of all ages and places and of mechanical masterpieces like songbirds and music boxes. He answered my many questions very accurately and showed me the working of these magnificent treasures. I even had the chance to watch him and his son doing their work – a unique craft indeed!"
